The Department of Health may implement and administer part C of the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), which shall be known as the “Florida Infants and Toddlers Early Intervention Program.”(1) The department, jointly with the Department of Education, shall annually prepare a grant application to the United States Department of Education for funding early intervention services for infants and toddlers with disabilities, from birth through 36 months of age, and their families pursuant to part C of the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.
(2) The department, jointly with the Department of Education, shall include a reading initiative as an early intervention service for infants and toddlers.
