Project Description:

The project is the Broward County Beach Erosion Control Project, a.k.a. The Broward County Shore Protection Project or the Broward County Beach Nourishment Project.  Attachment 1 is the updated Fixed Capital Outlay Legislative Budget Request (LBR) of the Department of Environmental Protection's (DEP) Office of Beaches and Coastal Systems.  The LBR priority list includes the Broward County project.  This project will place approximately 2.5 million cubic yards of sand on about 11.5 miles of beach.  Also included is construction of a spur on the south jetty of Port Everglades and two t-head groins at the north end of John U. Lloyd Beach State Recreation Area.  This funding request reflects increases in estimated overall costs for the project due to tightened regulatory and operational constraints and aligns the State share of the project costs with levels authorized by statute and rule.
