Project Description:

This is a faith based initiative and a collaborative interdenominational, community and corporate venture to provide state of the art computer mentoring programs to a predominantly African American community with a youth population of approximately 800.  The program provides technical, academic and life skills training to children in underserved neighborhoods where the majority of school children are on subsidized feeding program and youth felonies and teen pregnancies are at a 10% higher rate than the rest of the county.  The program additionally will incorporate SAT, FCAT, career counseling and other training to ensure continuing academic success.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

Lower the juvenile delinquency rate by 5% by providing positive role models and activities to children.  Decrease the drop out rate by 15% by providing skills training to reinforce self-esteem and academic achievement.  Enhance community cohesiveness by providing the most cooperative project undertaken by the community and its partners as a whole, focusing on the common denominator of providing a future for their children in academic and occupational pursuits.
