Orlando Executive Airport serves the general aviation needs of central Florida's business and corporate community and is home to a diverse group of aviation partners.  In 2000, OEA's aircraft operations totaled more than 237,053.  OEA has been chosen to serve as the host aiport for the National Business Aviation Association annual convention, with over 30,000 participants, in 2002, 2003, and 2006.  OEA follows best management practices in meeting environmental requirements, which includes stormwater from aircraft washing redirected into grassy areas of the airfield.  With the large volume of aircraft anticipated through this convention and regular growth, OEA must be able to meet environmental requirements associated with the cleaning of aircraft and associated motor vehicles.

Project Description:

Design and construction of 2 self-service wash racks (general aviation wash pad facilities) to provide oil/water separation and prevent wastewater intrusion. As much as 400 gallons of water are utilized each day in aircraft and motor vehicle washing.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

The installation of wash racks will allow OEA to meet the needs of central Florida's general aviation community and adhere to environmental regulations.  Other FDOT Districts have provided 80% of project costs to implement the use of washracks.  With 4 commercial airports and 15 general aviation airports, District 5 does not have funding available for this project.
