The elimination of the independent living program by the department of juvenile justice will have a seere impact on the issue of public safety in communities that have a large population of youth under the supervision of the department who are homeless and/or who home environment supervision is inappropriate by continuing to fund independent living more youth will have an opportunity remain out of the criminal justice system thus protecting our citizens

Project Description:
program is designed to provide 10 beds for male youth released from djj residential programs who are homeless. who permanent home is inappropriate due to a dysfunctional family environment and/or youth who are under the supervision of the dept who are identified as needing the program services.
Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
reduction in the number of youth released from djj residential programs who re-offen and/or become apart of a government subsidized program after returning back to their communities
