The present building is extremely overcrowded, old and expensive to maintain. New facility would allow for consolidation of scattered offices and replacement of the Regional Lab- The Miami-Dade County Branch of the Florida Lab is part of the Florida Department of Health Bureau of Laboratories and works closely with MDCHD. The lab is currently the highest certified bio-terrorism laboratory(level 3-C)for handling and testing unknown substances south of CDC in Atlanta, Georgia. |
