Project Description:
Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium has been designated as a Cultural Sponsoring Organization and has qualified for the State Matching Share of $240,000 for Mote's share of the Cultural Endowment. Income form the endowment will support the dissemination of information concerning Florida's marine environment through Mote Marine Aquarium and Education programs. Due to the nature of its geograhpy, Florida's intellectual and artistic culture is inextricably intertwined with the sea. We encourage full funding for the Division's appropriation request, therefore ensuring that Mote as well as other approved institutions receive their entire State Matching Share.
Services Provided/Benefit to State:
The Cultural Endowment will provide the income to move the institution toward greater flexibility and stability as an enduring source of informal education and information concerning the marine environment.
