To better understand the cause(s) and ecological impacts of these harmful seaweed blooms, Harbor Branch proposes to survey and sample impacted and reference areas using underwater vehicles digital video and SCUBA to: Document the extent of damage by harmful algal blooms to economically valuable ecosystems; identify the various sources of the nitrogen that are believed to be feeding these harmful blooms. |
