This facility has been designed as a special needs facility to service those coastal residents who are evacuated because of the threat of a hurricane. The facility is specifically designed to assit those with special needs. During a hurricane evacuation 250,000 or more people move inland from the barrier islands on the central east coast and from the coastal areas of the central west coast. This facility is to give them a place of shelter to weather out the storm.
