General Summary
Florida Senate Information Technology Office (Senate IT) supports the Senators, Senate staff and the public. It consists of a customer support, applications and system administration team. More than 20 applications are managed by Senate IT, including traditional and mobile websites, desktop applications and other ancillary technologies.
Senate IT is searching for an experienced UX Designer/Developer that wants to join a fast-paced and innovative team, leading in technology and constantly evolving to support our stakeholders. Senate IT analyzes, develops, documents, tests and maintains a wide array of software including web, mobile and desktop applications.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities

Leverage the voice of the customer to deliver high quality user experience that successfully merges business and user goals.

Create solutions that deliver on intuitive user interfaces that increase adoption and drive business success.

Be passionate about making difficult tasks into simple and effective experiences for customers.

Designing and implementing new web applications.

Maintaining and improving existing web applications.

Developing test cases and project documentation.

Conducting code reviews of colleagues' work.

Work in a collaborative, agile environment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
-
Experience designing for different mediums (desktop, web, mobile applications).

Experience with ux design for complex workflows and/or for technical end users.

Strong knowledge of user experience principles and techniques.
-
Proficiency with design tools.
-
Experience with web technologies such as HTML5, CSS, Javascript, AJAX, JQuery, JSON.

Familiarity with Bootstrap and Angular JS.

Familiarity with WebAPI and RESTFul services.
-
Experience with building sites that are compatible among different web browsers and platforms.

Ability to communicate technical information clearly and concisely, both verbal and written.

Ability to lead brainstorming sessions and design reviews.

Ability to analyze and interpret user requirements and adjust to rapidly changing user requirements.

Able to root out an issue and provide options to internal and external stakeholders.

Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, design skills, and ability to multitask.
Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, business administration, education, communications, graphic arts, mathematics, statistics, geography, or engineering and three years of progressively responsible information systems experience.
Progressively responsible work experience with web or application development can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
Total experience must equate to a minimum of seven years related to the position.

Experience with 508 compliance standards.

Experience with brand and product development and standards.

Experience working in iterative software development environments and with a ticket-based workflow.

Strong time management skills and the ability to be self-directed when needed.

Experience with ASP.Net, C#, MVC 4 or higher.

Experience with Microsoft products, including Visual Studio and Team Foundation Server.
