OPS Administrative Assistant/Calendar Assistant

General Summary

The Office of the Clerk is accepting applications for an OPS Administrative Assistant / Calendar Assistant.  This is full-time temporary employment during the legislative session.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

The Calendar Assistant is responsible for filing documents, data entry, maintaining member and committee/subcommittee files, and helping with publications and various projects.  The Calendar Assistant will be responsible for recording bill and amendment actions within the House database (Leagis) and will also assist with verification of daily session activities.  The Calendar Assistant must also be able to manage and prioritize multiple projects and tasks within a time-sensitive and demanding environment, sometimes requiring staff to be available to work more than 40 hours a week (and after normal business hours) without prior notice.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of administrative principles and practices.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Research skills.
  • Ability to perform general office duties.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with others.
  • Ability to visually review computer documents and other printed material, making corrections either in writing or electronically.

Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one year of work experience.  A master's degree from an accredited college or university can substitute for the required experience.  Administrative or staff experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.

Rate of Pay

$11.72/hour
