Information Systems Engineer
The Florida House of Representatives is seeking a Information Systems Engineer to work in the Office of Information Technology. The Information Systems Engineer must have competency, knowledge, and a thorough understanding in Dell Compellent systems and the dynamics of the Storage Area Network (SAN) infrastructure. Maintains, troubleshoots, monitors, and maintains the integrity of the Storage Area Network and Storage Solutions. Maintains storage hardware and software configurations; including storage arrays, iSCSI, and host configurations.
The candidate should also have a working knowledge of VMware; installing, configuring, deploying, monitoring and managing virtual servers across an enterprise environment. This person will also be responsible for assisting in maintaining Windows-based platforms and services, as well as, documentation, and policy/procedure compliance for IT systems related to Virtualized and Windows environments.
The candidate must have the ability to multi-task and communicate effectively to manage multiple engagements, technical priorities and goals in an efficient manner. The ideal candidate must be self-motivated and highly driven with a proven track record in SAN technology implementation and operations. Must possess strong presentation skills and be able to communicate professionally in written responses. The Information Systems Engineer will perform various roles including, but not limited to, research and design, testing, installation, configuration, hardening, provisioning, general systems monitoring, response and documentation.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Solid understanding and experience with Dell Compellent SAN, Dell Servers, Dell Switches
Solid understanding of and experience with enterprise storage (FC, FCoE, NFS, and iSCSI)
Engineering and implementing disk storage solutions
Performance Tuning of SAN implementations
General IP Networking knowledge
Working knowledge of files systems, disk partitioning, quotas, and data security
VMware ESXi/vSphere 5.1 and above
Windows Server administration; Windows 2008 R2 or above
Understanding of standard networking protocols (DNS, DHCP, LDAP, SMTP, ICMP, NTP)
Desktop Operating Systems, Windows 7 and above
System hardening based on known and discovered vulnerabilities
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, business administration, education, communications, graphic arts, mathematics, statistics, geography, or engineering and three years of progressively responsible information systems experience.
Progressively responsible information systems experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
Any combination of progressively responsible information systems experience and post secondary training in disciplines as described above totaling seven years.
