Job Title:
Legislative Assistant

Applications are being accepted for a Legislative Assistant in the North Miami Beach office of State Representative Yolly Roberson (D-District 104).

Employment Description:
Applicants must be self-motivated, and should possess excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Strong writing and computer skills are also required.

Tasks include, but are not limited to, researching legislative issues; filing and tracking legislation; writing press releases and newsletters; handling constituent requests; scheduling appointments; attending state and local meetings and other events on behalf of the Representative, as well as working with groups to identify key issues for the district.

The Legislative Assistant must be willing to relocate to Tallahassee during the Legislative Session (a 60-day period beginning the first Tuesday after the first Monday in March), and travel to Tallahassee during committee meetings.

Preference will be given to applicants with a working knowledge of Spanish.

Minimum Qualification:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of administrative experience.

A master's degree from an accredited college or university can substitute for one year of the required experience.

Professional or non-professional administrative experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.

Salary:
$34,932. Premiums for individual or family insurance programs and retirement contributions are paid by the Legislature.
