Project Description:

Final phase and summative evaluation of research to investigate the effects of class size on learning.  Test scores for students in 5 diverse elementary schools participating in enhanced Project CHILD classrooms with 30 students each are being compared to students participating in traditional self-contained classrooms of 20 students each.  Florida Tax Watch is conducting an evaluation to determine academic outcomes and cost-benefit issues.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

This research will inform policy makers on funding education.  Predicted statewide savings and/or cost avoidance using the enhanced Project CHILD model are estimated at $4.4 billion.  The Project CHILD results are already showing improved test scores for reading, writing, and mathematics.
