Project Description:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Thus far the county has purchased land,($550,000)and obtained a Master Useage Plan ($80,000)supplementing prior $300,000 legislative appropriation.Okeechobee County will lead in this local/state partnership providing additional funding to complete the construction phase estimated at $4-5M. The County accepts operational costs.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Services Provided/Benefit to State:

 

 

 

 

 

The only public facility available regionally, this multi-use center will promote not only Agriculture but civic and commercial events, capitalizing on their location on The Big Lake,i.e., sports and winter visitors, increasing sales tax revenue.  The facility will also provide needed Emergency Shelter as documented by Dept. of Community Affairs in Shelter Retrofit Report of September, 1999.
